I'm Dutch, can get married to whichever sex I choose, and so married none, since I have no interest in marriage whatsoever. But I support those who do want to get married, including threesome marriages, group marriages, gay and straight marriages and pretty much anything else you can think of that doesn't involve coercion, duress, underage people or animals.

I'm also a total sucker for those small, domestic 'old married couple' moments in my favorite series. Yesterday I was speeding through some old Sentinel tapes (in order to figure out what I actually have on tape - [livejournal.com profile] halimede, do you have any requests?), and came across the following moment, after a friend of Blair's has been found murdered:

Jim enters the darkened loft, where Blair is seated cross-legged in front of five fat candles and an incense burner. Sitar-like music plays in the background. Jim doesn't look surprised, just sits down on the couch close to Blair. Blair turns the music off, and Jim talks about a new development in the murder case. The news upsets Blair, who says 'I have to get out of here'. Jim offers to take Blair out to dinner, 'my treat', but Blair says he has to be alone, walks to the door, and adds 'Will you get the candles for me?'

The next shot is of Jim, asleep on the couch in front of a dead TV screen.

I love that. That line about the candles kills me. And Jim waiting up for Blair. melts

Oh man. I'd forgotten that line.

(frantically rummages through dvds to find this ep to watch again)

Who needs a plot when you've got "character" scenes like these? :-)

Ooo, you have Sentinel DVDs! Do they come with cool extras such as commentaries, or the famous bloopers?

Boy do I wish they were official dvds with all the goodies! No such luck -- still waiting for TPTB to get off the dime and provide those for us fans.

Nope, they're dvd's I burned myself. I had to transfer my tapes to digital files anyway in order to create song vids on the computer, so I took the final step to make them into DVDs. It was nice to be able to put the tapes into storage.

Gotcha. That must've been a hell of a job.

And what a damn shame. I hope they do bring out official DVDs.

Me too. A perverse part of me was hoping to invoke Murphy -- if I go to all that trouble, surely *that's* when official DVDs will appear. ;-)
