The Hercules Store is advertising that the season 6 DVD set will come out in May 2005. They've got it priced at $29.99, and they've also got a 'Legendary Collection' listed of all six season box sets together for $179.00. No images, no details.

Warning: I've heard nothing but bad news about the Hercules Store or their reps, and they organize advertising campaigns which consist of getting fans to post spam for them: "Your mission is to post messages about the Hercules Legendary Collection." In short, I wouldn't advise buying anything from them directly.

In other news, Overstock.com has the first season H:tLJ set on sale for $25.58.

Slightly random question for you, oh fount of H:tLJ knowledge. *g* I've been haunting eBay for the spiffy Best Buy version of season 1, though I'll admit it's as much because all my Xena sets are the spiffy versions (and I like matching packaging) as for the extra extras. But luck has not been on my side- there are lots of copies up, but they're all the regular set. I know they've gotten lamer in later seasons, but are the BB extras worth it for S1? I wouldn't enjoy giving up, of course, but there comes a point where it's silly not to, you know?

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's a tough choice; I even had trouble buying the regular version of season 5, even though I knew the extras were only half an hour of snippets cut from other interviews. (And my set still hasn't arrived yet, grrr.)

The extra for season 1 is a disc of interviews with Sorbo and Hurst, called 'The Men Behind The Myth', and it's certainly worth having, although not as indispensable as the fabulous blooper reel that comes with S2. I didn't get this first disc either, at the time, because I didn't know about the BB extras and BB doesn't ship overseas, but a kind fan made a copy for me.

So if I were you, I'd plump for the regular set and... make Bambi eyes. *g*

I'm a bit confused by what you say about packaging, though - as far as I know, the H:tLJ sets look exactly the same whether you buy them at Best Buy or not, except for an 'exclusive content' banner around the front. The sets in my bookcase, some from BB and some not, still match fine.

Yeah, it's just the "exclusive content" banner I meant with the packaging- like I said, very obsessive about matching. *g* Hm, interviews, eh? I guess I do want that version. I knew I should have gotten it way back when. Ah well, the quest continues. *g* Thanks a lot for the input! It's greatly appreciated.

Since you are now officially "She Who Knows All" in regards to HtLJ ;), is that S2 blooper reel the same one (or one of the same ones) that came with the fan club kit(s)?

Dude, ack! I don't know anything! Not anything much, anyway. See, I got into the fandom LATE, too late to be a member of any fanclub or get behind-the-scenes tapes or photos or anything cool. Not that I am sad about that or anything. Ahem.

But I can tell you this: the bloopers are *fabulous*, they last about 20 minutes (which is a hella long time for a blooper reel, if you ask me) and I think [livejournal.com profile] ltlj said that there were some new ones, some she already knew from the tapes, but the picture & sound quality were much better, and there were no stupid voiceovers or 'wacky' music as there apparently was on the fanclub tapes. Hope that helps!

Well, f**k. It figures. I just ordered S2 from another source and I won't be getting the bloopers.

Do you know of anyone I could get a copy of them from? I have all the fanclub stuff, but yeah, they had voice overs and music, etc. I'd love to have a clean DVD type quality copy.

The Hercules Store folk tried to sell me season 6 last night for 34.99. They've upped the price.

I thought I'd told them to take me off their list...

Huh. It's still $29.99 on their website. And I can see that I so wasn't overstating the case as regards their asshattery.
