Harry Potter and the Horses of Doom
Jul. 24th, 2003 09:30 pmSo this is what the cover of the Dutch-language Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix looks like. It's not out yet - the translator is still hard at work. He does a good job, too - I actually like the word 'Dreuzels' better than 'Muggles'. 'Dreuzel' really makes for a good swearword, as in 'You dreuzel!' It is close to 'reuzel', i.e. 'lard', eugh. And then there's 'treuzel' which is someone who's being obnoxiously slow. Also, the sound of it is exactly right.
But I digress. My point: is not the Dutch cover infinitely cooler than the British/American one? Pardon my sudden attack of nationalism here, but. It is. This looks like a book I want to read. (Have read it, yes. It read like a very long fanfic to me, with Mary Sue - Tonks! - and all. Thus proving that fandom has completely warped my cultural sensibilities. Also, does she ever need an editor. Or a beta-reader, even.)
