After reading the story of the Sandman quilt that was recently auctioned off for the Comic Books Legal Defense Fund, I'm struck with the idea that fannish quilts are Really Cool.
This is not a good idea to have when you a) barely know how to sew a basic stitch, b) don't own a sewing machine and c) need another hobby like a new hole in your head.
Nevertheless, I'm thinking that an Iolaus quilt would be just the ticket. Not a quilt with pictures of the guy stitched on, because that sounds a little cheesy to me, but one that uses his colors - purple, jade, blue, dark blue/grey, gold - as well as the patterns of his vest and manaia. So that you wouldn't actually know it was an Iolaus quilt unless you were a fan. If you weren't, it would (in my fantasy world, obviously, where everything I do turns out fabulously well) just be v. pretty.
Has anyone ever made a fannish quilt? Are there pictures, How-To's, discussions online anywhere?
