Happy Sinterklaas to all!

I got a chocolate letter in my shoe this morning, which means I have been good and will not be taken back to Spain in a big burlap sack. (A pity, really - it's 22C in Sevilla right now, and sunny.)

Now I'm going to see if the marzipan has gone on sale yet. Mmmm. My favorite kind of Sinterklaas marzipan is not the little marzipan figurines, fun as those are, but the giant pink and white marzipan pigs, about the size of a real wee piglet. I love how you can ask for 'a slice of the pig', almost as if you're at a butcher's. It's wonderfully surreal.

Maybe if we're quick we can still catch the Sint before he heads off to Spain in his steamboat. (And I hope you're feeling better, btw!)

Yep, I think it's finally over now, whatever it was. Thanks!

Happy Sinterklaas! Have you considered being deliberately bad? It seems like a good way to get an end of the year vacation, even if the transport is a little rough.

Thanks! :-)

Yeah, I've considered it, but I think you need to be v. v. bad, and I'm just too lazy to rob banks and whatnot. (If you're just a little bad, Zwarte Piet comes and spanks you with a brush, instead, though nowadays people don't mention this option much.)

Marzipan is always good. I love it when it's on a small piece of chocolate.

But for the American-clueless amongst us: burlap sack?

Heh, it's the sack that Sinterklaas takes along from Spain that has all the presents in it - and when he goes back, if you've been really bad, he takes you. This never sounded like a terrible punishment to me...

Oh... well.. hello... um, because I'm a bit slow on exactly where to go to say that I saw your fantastic Vid (Improper Dancing) and love love loved it... dancing in my seat... or on my seat... well... I *was* sitting down to be close to the laptop screen... and when I saw what I was missing went back and dl'ed the Larger one... I do like 'em big!... and what an incredible selection of cultural icons... is that what they're called? icons? works for this purpose I suppose...

::big breath::

But I did get a little distracted at first by the marzipan piglets and the burlap sack to Spain... but just for the moment... because I needed to go back and watch again because, really? there are just SO many characters included... and isn't it amazing how quickly the brain eye combination can discern them...

Seriously... loved it!! ...my other all time favorite is yours too... Holding Our for a Hero... and as you've said, you may be slow but your's are without a doubt worth waiting for!

(apologies for the stream of consciousness comment :)

Thank you so very much! *beams* I was having one of those despondent mornings, and feedback like this is such a wonderful boost to the system.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the vid. Both this one and Holding Out For A Hero were incredibly fun to make, and Improper Dancing is sort of a distillation of all the things I love in fandom (people being dorks! sword fighting! flying! Fetchingly naked people!).

Ooooo yeah... Fetchingly naked (and nearly naked) people are my favorite too!

And the combo of silliness and flinging of swords and stuff was so well done... each addition being caught at just the right time... synchronization with music and movement and the humour of those choices/placements...

MOST excellent, thank you again!
