Michael Hurst con report

Over at Dogged Blog, the first con report I've seen about Michael Hurst and his wife Jennifer Lealand at the Xena con in Burbank last weekend. (This was a Creation Con, i.e. 'pay $70 to have your picture taken with Renee O'Connor'. Gleep.)

This is a great, nicely detailed con report (the rest of the report starts here and she also has an entry about Xena in concert) and this bit cracked me up:

Asked about the origin of "Frock Day," which is a NZ theater tradition rooted, he says, in boredom. The women get all dolled up and the men wear dresses and makeup, just in the morning. At lunch you change, and no one talks about it, other than to say "nice frock."

And Hurst says he'll appear as the Widow Twanky next year, as long as she gets an invitation. Hee.

Hi! Just a lurker, but I'm bound and determined to clear up some icon space so I can grab one of your excellent Twanky icons. I've also stumbled across your Herc fanfic quite often on the great big internet, and I'm a fan! The cabaret sounds wonderful -- OMG you have a homemade Twanky pin. That is just awesome.

And a seriously fantastic photo of you and Michael, wow, you both look like stars. Yay you!

Whoa - best Iolaus icon ever! :) Too cute!

I actually showed him my pin when he was signing something for my friend and I told him I was representing the Twanky love. I'm planning another update to encompass all the things I forgot in this one.

One of my crafty goals for 2007 is to make an Iolaus scarf made of knitting and bits of purple fabric, with each square modeled after the patches on his vest. If I complete it by next year I'll have to show him - he'll probably think I'm crazy!
