We have two episodes of Dr Who left. Season 1, that is. Of the new series. And I'm hooooarding them. Only one ep a night.

Because, aw, I love this Doctor! And [livejournal.com profile] therienne and [livejournal.com profile] elynross have assured me that I'll like the next fella in line too, only I just got to know this one, and I already sort of miss him and his maniacal grins and his flirty ways with Captain Jack, and also, wow, love the Sleveen or however you spell them, the aliens who wear human suits, and especially the female one who pops up again in episode 11. She's such an entertaining villain, and I admire the way she listens to the Doctor's speech about killers and the occasional urge to be kind, and then turns it on its head and uses it as a weapon against him. Go you, you icky alien.

Also the gas mask thing in the Blitz two parter was disturbing as hell. I think there's a whole new generation of DW fans hiding behind the sofa now.

Does anyone have recs for Doctor Who vids? Preferably ones that just cover the first season? (Though other recs are welcome too, I'll just save them for later.)

Lessee... "Time After Time" by [livejournal.com profile] wolfling is nice and sappy and fun. It's just Season 1. [livejournal.com profile] butterfly's "Into the Fire" (http://butterfly.livejournal.com/1104188.html) is neat, but it's got a lot of Season 2 in it. "Cotton Eye Joe" by Ishamaellives is just silly, and entirely Season 1, and it may be available here (http://evil-demandred.livejournal.com/19152.html) (or if not, I could upload it somewhere for you). I've got a few more Who vids I'm meaning to absorb, but I can't rec them yet.

Yes, you'll like Ten, too. He's not as immediately hot as CE is, but he's so infectious and bouncy.

Thank you for the recs! I'll check them out. And I'm glad that everybody seems to like Ten (I shall try to remember that this one is Nine, so I look like Someone Who Knows. Heh), that's reassuring.

I LOVED the farting aliens! And it was so nice to see the Daleks back. And--again with the and--that WWII episode was mighty creepy. You'll love Capt. Jack's exit, if you haven't seen it.

We don't start new DW until October but I'm looking forward to it!

The nice thing about October is that I'll be all caught up by then, yay! I'm looking forward to it too.

I think you'll like 10 but you'll miss 9. I've seen several regenerations and just when I think, oh no that actor can't be right!, they prove me wrong. Because tho the faces and personalities may change, the Doctor remains constant in so many ways.

And the 2nd part of the Blitz 2 parter (The Doctor Dances) has one of the single best lines in all 30+ years of DW. "Everyone lives, Rose! Just this once, everyone lives!"

I'm admiring your icon. And thanks for reassuring me about Doctor #10! I like the idea of a continuing character with different faces/personalities, and I hope he'll work for me. *g*

That was a great line, and I just liked the whole 2 part episode a lot. *loves*

And I've nothing against happy shippy Rose/9 vids, so no worries. *g*

After I've watched enough vids I'll try and do a rec post of my own. Yay new fannish love!

I'm afraid I have no recs, but wanted to share the squee (those gas masks - seriously scary), and also agree with others that I'm sure you'll love the new Doctor. I was very wary at first, but have come to love him. :)

And more than anything, I so admire your self-discipline in restricting yourself to one episode a night. There's no way I could do that - I galloped through about 30 eps of SGA in, oh, a week?

Squee! Yes. Definitely. *grins at you*
And well, I dunno if I'd call it self-discipline - it's more that I've suckered SO into it as well and now we have to find time to watch it together. (So now we still haven't seen the last two episodes, but he did catch up on two others all by himself. Heh.)

Squee! Of all the wonderful things in Empty Child/Doctor Dances (including Jack! And the completely delightful dancing conceit) I think my very favorite is in Empty Child, when the Doctor opens the door to the gas-masked kid. I've been watching Who for a long time now, and I'm not sure I've ever loved him as much as at that moment. Warn him as much as you like, but of *course* the Doctor opens the door!

Yeah, I know. We were clutching each other going NO, don't do it! But I really liked how they made you feel that the Doctor wasn't being stupid, just...this is what he does. Curiosity and compassion, mixed. Lovely. And yet, eek!

Randomly wandering by (long time reader of LtLJ website) and you just hit the nail write on the head there: Curiosity and compassion, mixed. Lovely. And yet, eek! Yes. Thanks. :D

*g* careful, you'll never get rid of me now! :) We've just seen The Impossible Planet here in Oz. I've been watching the Doctor since...oh... 1985 or so, and there's not one that I haven't loved. Regardless of what face he is wearing. :) And Torchwood? If the ABC doesn't get it, there may be riots! Mmmm... Captain Jack!

I really enjoyed those five things lists you did - particularly the Iphicles one. Beautiful. :)

:)
