Happy Sinterklaas, everyone! Alas, once again he didn't take me to Spain this year. I must not have been bad enough. But he did leave me some yummy things in my shoe, yay!

For the vidders on my friends list, or anyone who likes to listen to new and often alternative music, I want to point you to De Luisterpaal. This is part of the Dutch VPRO TV/radio station, and on this site they select about twenty albums that have just come out and stream them. You can play the whole album, switch tracks, go to the next, etcetera. It's a great way of trying out some new music, and they change the set list every week.

Right now they've got albums by Talib Kweli (rap), Slipknot (um...noise?), Yonderboi (poppy), Deep Blue (lounge? really, I suck at these labels), Roman (German wave) and a lot of other stuff. Recommended, unless you're on dialup.

Thanks for the link to the Sinterklaas info -- my favorite part is:

All Dutch children know that Sinterklaas (the name is a corruption of Sint Nikolaas) lives in Spain. Exactly why he does remains a mystery, but that is what all the old songs and nursery rhymes say.

Makes so much more sense than living at the North Pole! Given the choice, I'd certainly rather live in Spain. :->

Hee, yeah, it always struck me as funny that the punishment for being bad was being taken to Spain by Sint and his Pieten. (And being stuffed in a big sack, admittedly, but still.)
