Xena fans: you know that bit in the Xena: Warrior Princess opening sequence where Xena's standing on a rock, whirling a big sword about her head?

Yes? Good. Now, which episode is that from? *looks hopeful* I like the shot, but not the titles running over it...

ETA: and if you have a nice clip of it for me, preferably off the DVD, that would be fab!

I think some of that stuff was shot just for the titles, but I don't know about that shot, specifically.

I never feel like I actually know a show until I can identify every clip in the opening titles.

I know the bit with Poseidon coming out of the sea was shot just for the titles - I was kinda hoping the sword-whirling wasn't. Hmmmm.

I'm pretty sure that shot was only for the titles. Maybe 80% sure. I'm rather hoping it wasn't, though, if that means you're working on a Xena vid :)

Aww. No, I'm not doing a Xena vid (I don't even have DVD source! I suck!), I'm doing a multi-fandom vid of dorkiness. Though this isn't actually a dorky shot, I admit. *G*

That's just as much fun! Hm, let's see, the first scene that comes to mind is this ludicrous moment of Xena jumping/flipping this insane distance to get onto a ship where Gabrielle was held prisoner. The crazy distance was even more laughable b/c it was practically a horizontal jump defying every known law of gravity. *g* It's from 2nd season - The Lost Mariner.

Some of that opening sequence is from the Hercules episodes that Xena was in. I'll try & look later tonight & see if I have them. I did at one point, but it seems to me I may have given them away.

If I can find them, I'll look & see if that is from the Hercules episodes that had Xena in them.

If it's Hercules episodes, do not fret, for I have them all and can get clips from them much easier than from Xena. Plus, I managed to grab a bit from the opening credits from Xena that fits what I was looking for, so yay!

I don't know if it's that exact shot, but there's a sequence where she's whirling swords (for practice) beside a beach in 'Miss Amphipolis'. Which has a few dorky moments - as does any of the episodes with Meg - Warrior, Princess, Tramp, springs to mind. Loads of others too - but as I don't have anything I can use to rip from my DVDs I can't supply you with clips. :-(

You can find most of the Xena bloopers on Youtube, so that's a possible source of inspiration ...

If it is a clip from the show, it's most likely from the first three or four episodes, since I think she's wearing her regular armor in that clip and most of the footage not from the Herc eps is from those. If you don't get an answer here, I recommend crossposting this to xenites. They could probably hook you up.

Is this (http://www.hovenweep.org/~xenacryst/tmp/xenaclip.mov) the sequence you're thinking of? That's from the opening clips of season 6, and there's no titles until the Xena graphic appears at the fade-out. If that's what you're after, I can get you a higher quality clip pretty easily.

You know, I should have done more work before throwing myself on the mercy of my flist - because yes! That's one of the clips I was thinking of (I have another in my head where she's doing a similar stance only it's a full-body shot, but I can't find that one) and you're perfectly right, it doesn't have the titles over it until the fade.
