Meme, from
flambeau:
1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite food. Or a quote from what you are reading. Something random. Whatever you like.
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.
So, comment away and I will ask you questions!
1, Which is better, raw herring with onions or raw salmon with wasabi?
Ooo, tricky. I love both, but I think the herring has the edge here - it's a slightly stronger taste than the salmon, and richer. And it's hard to find really good salmon.
2, Do you prefer to wear pants or skirts?
Pants! I don't think I own any skirts at present. They are hard to bicycle in, and I've just never gotten into the habit of wearing them. But in the last couple years I've developed a fondness for long summer dresses, and keep finding more of them in my closet.
3, Which are the three cutest moments that Iolaus and Hercules have together?
Oh, such a hard question. *grins*
A bit I love is in Cave of Echoes, where Hercules and Iolaus are in a cave looking for a monster and part of the ceiling falls in on them. Hercules is completely buried, but Iolaus digs him out, and they sit back breathing hard for a spell, while Iolaus complains "What is with you and rocks?"
A little bit later Hercules is lifting huge rocks to try and clear a passage, while Iolaus sits on a rock watching him.
Hercules: "You comfortable?"
Iolaus: "I'm holding the torch!"
Finally Hercules starts pushing against the man-sized boulder that's still in the way, with a lot of groaning, and Iolaus just relaxes and says casually to the scribe who's accompanying them, "Watch. He's really good at this." I love his proprietary air, but also that feeling of hey, this is what we do, the day isn't complete without some monsters and a cave-in or two.
I am also very fond of the bit in Just Passing Through, where Hercules and Iolaus are bickering because Hercules pushed Iolaus into a river and he tore his pants. Hercules says he's sorry and offers to make him a new pair:
Iolaus: "You sew?"
Hercules: "If I have to. My mother taught me."
Iolaus: "Hey, can you crochet? What I'd really like is an afghan."
and during this conversation, Hercules breaks off a stick, kneels down at Iolaus' feet and starts measuring his inseam:

Then, at the end of the episode, it turns out that Hercules has crocheted Iolaus an afghan in between their adventures, and Iolaus is very pleased and wraps it around his shoulders immediately, saying "Mmmm, nice and cuddly," while Hercules explains that he thought it might help Iolaus sleep better. Aww.
4, What item of jewellery would you buy if you could afford it?
Hmmmm. I think one of
elisem's stunning necklace-crowns, probably something with opalescence and glass in it, like ghost roses and now. I love her long chained bead necklaces too, but since I've gotten into the habit of making jewelry myself I am even more impressed with the wandering wire technique she uses in the crowns. Her work is just so gorgeous, and full of stories.
I think, though, that if I had a sudden windfall I'd be tempted to buy a great big spool of sterling silver wire and some beads, instead. (Okay, lots of beads.) Making things is so much fun.
5, Are fans inherently crazy, or do they become crazy due to fandom? Discuss.
Hee. I think the really crazy people in fandom are a small minority, and they didn't need fandom to get that way. On the other hand, no matter how idiotic the ranting or outrageous the drama some fans indulge in, they always seem to find people to encourage and/or adore them, which ... doesn't help.
So: yes! *g*

Date: 2007-07-10 05:01 pm (UTC)I forgot all about that ep! Even back when it first aired, that raised my eyebrows. I remember thinking something along the lines of, Okay, exactly how married are they? The things they got away with on that show.

Date: 2007-07-13 12:46 am (UTC)BTW, a buddy and I went to see The Last Magic Show premiere at the Dances with Films festival last night. Michael was as smarmy as ever. I hated the hair, but it fit the character well. Also, let me say that I adore Mr. Hurst. Truly I do. But I have no desire to see his ass on a 40-foot screen ever again.
Yes, there was a butt shot. The man just cannot keep his trousers on when a camera's following him. :-)

Date: 2007-07-11 04:41 am (UTC)And I'm sooooo with you on the beads. Isn't Elise's work absolutely amazing? And yes, the bead store down the street from my office is a very dangerous place.

Date: 2007-07-11 06:43 am (UTC)The raw herring, OTOH, is a Dutch specialty and there is a national newspaper that tests all the herring stalls and fishmongers to see who has the best, tastiest & freshest. One of the top ten sellers is really close by, and they do sell delicious herring. Mmm.
Questions! (I'm not sure if you wanted to play, so if you don't, just ignore. ;-)
1) What are your favorite kinds of beads to work with?
2) If you had the money, what would you commission Elise to make for you?
3) What kind of food did you hate as a kid, that you love now?
4) If I gave you a flying carpet, where would you go first?
5) What's your favorite vid, and why?

Date: 2007-07-11 06:50 am (UTC)And aw, that vid montage sounds lovely. What a nice thing to do. ♥

2) If you had pots and pots of money, what kind of house would you buy to live in?
3) Which actor would you most love to meet, and what would you say to them? (Or if no actors come to mind, which writer?)
4) If the Widow Twanky and Iolaus ever met, what would happen?
5) What food have you never eaten, but would love to?

Date: 2007-07-11 05:25 am (UTC)I liked it because I could hear Iolaus saying this, I really could. And with an alarming frequency, sigh. (grins).

Date: 2007-07-11 11:43 am (UTC)The only caveat is that it will take me a while to make them. Right now I'm preparing for a big trip that will take most of August, and I probably won't have time to make screencaps until September.
