I am looking for a fic where John and Rodney get some kind ancient bracelets or cuff given to them or put on them in a ritual or something , they can't get them off and they get connected mentally or maybe mated somehow. (I know of two similar stories but they are not the one I am looking for. One had John mated to Weir and Rodney to Carson for life bonds and the other it's not is the one where Carson, Rodney and I think Radak get marriage bracelets after a misunderstanding off world and are together.)

I don't think I've read any of these, but some of my favorite SGA stories would sound just like this when summed up on SGAstoryfinders - the one with the octopus that likes pens! the one where John is abducted by slavers and has sex with a tattooed alien! the one where John is an eight-year-old! the one where John and Rodney are elves!

The summaries just make me crack up, or go 'Oh, want to read that story!' Or both at once. (Am now looking up the grocery one.*g*)

You have to at least read the one where Rodney is an alien in heat. It's An Aesthetic Solitary Thing (http://eliade.livejournal.com/468719.html?style=mine), and maaaaan. It was written for the Badfic Summary Challenge, and yet

eliade makes it work so well.

I loved this request particularly because it was the third time in the space of a week that the same story had been requested. Although none of the other requests mentioned Rodeny's (which for some reason I always want to hyphenate: Ro-Deny) brian, so I can see how the poster got confused.

The really sad part of all of this, of course, is that I can easily name 90% of the stories requested and actually provided the answer to one of the requests listed here. (And about half of the requests are for stories that are wonderful and that I would totally recommend; about 15% are for stories that are terrible and that I can't believe anyone actually managed to finish, never mind wanting to read it a second time.)

I love

sgastoryfinders. It's this fabulous combination of sociology, popular literature, communications studies, and pure, pure, crazy, and I just - I love it. It is my personal addiction. And I would join story finding communities for other fandoms, but I fear SGA has ruined me. Could any other fandom provide such beautiful requests?

Hee. I've seen the grocery store request come around a few times too, so that sounded like something to read.

And yeah, I think part of why the comm's so lovely is because it's so high-volume, and few fandoms have such a range of fic. Plus, when you know the story being requested, it's another kind of interesting: as Ces pointed out, it's the money shots that people remember.

LMAO!! Poor rodeny and his ever-troubling brian! It's crack, isn't it? To me, it's a game, to see if I can guess the story from the description and yes, I have read the one with the women's underwear and the one with the wings. Bit scared of the one with the talking, ancient poney though. And the evil horse that impregnates Rodney. God, I love this fandom!

So evidently I have to read the one with the wings. And the one with the groceries was a cute little story! Seriously, you never can tell.

*falls over laughing* Oh my gawd! I am so glad I am involved in "normal" *cough* fandoms like Xena and Buffy... Where one can find stories where Xena and Gabrielle is moved into the future and Xena is the owner of a stripclub and Gabrielle is a beginner stripper (I love that one!) or in Buffy where one can find stories about Spike getting impregnated by Weasley... *cough* Yes... Totally normal...

All fandoms have stories like this, I think. Some just more than others. And in SGA, a lot of them are worth reading, too. :-)

I TOLD you! Would I STEER YOU WRONG?? And the scary thing--these stories are mostly pretty GOOD!

I KNOW! I should have stressed that a bit more in my post because really, yes, and it's uncanny. I can't think of another fandom where something like Rodneysaur and Ernie the pen-loving octopus would be two of my favorite stories.

Another thing: I really liked your Summer-thingy story, it made me think of the one surfing lesson I ever had, which was awesome. (And will you write the sequel where John teaches Rodney how to stand up on the board? Because that is SO the hard part, if you ask me. *g*)
