Hercules: the Legendary Journeys DVDs and trade offer
As
ltlj mentioned, the Hercules: the Legendary Journeys season 5 DVD set is coming out on January the 11th, and DeepDiscountDVD has it listed at $41.99, plus free shipping for you lucky Americans. (The international shipping is $8.95, which is very reasonable.)
Also note that Amazon has the 1st season set for $31.98.
In the past, I've bought these sets from Best Buy via
ltlj's kind offices, because the BB sets have an 'exclusive extra'. However, these extras have steadily gone downhill, and on the last sets it's just been a half-hour extra 'interview' with various people, consisting of bits snipped from other interviews. From the reports, that's what it will be this time, too.
Trade offer
I'd still like to have the Best Buy 5th season extra just for completism's sake - is anyone buying there, able to rip and willing to trade? I'll trade you one of the other season extras, or a 1000-word Hercules/Iolaus fanfic to your specifications. Comment here, or contact me at marycrawford at squidge dot org, and we'll work something out.
In other news, TVShowsonDVD has info on the 6th season DVDs, which are apparently coming out in 'early summer 2005'. This will be our last chance to ask for more bloopers, cast interviews, raw footage, fan club tape material, wrap party footage, anything and everything you can think of - the 6th season is only 8 episodes long, so there's lots of room for extras.

And there's been nothing since :(
And when they did VIDEO releases ages ago they only did the box sets or single videos up to halfway through s3. i've got incomplete sets.
Yes xena is on dvd fully (No extras) or complete on video(which I have.. two box sets per season).
Region 2 sucks sometimes. Universal Playback are bastards.

I've never even seen the H:tLJ sets in Dutch stores, mind, and I don't even know if there are European releases to begin with. I've bought my sets in the US, first off Ebay and then through Best Buy.
BTW, this may be old hat, but just in case: a lot of European-made DVD players are region 2, but can be made region-free by a certain code. I got the code and instructions (very basic, just 'press these five numbers on the remote', IIRC) when I bought my player at MediaMarkt. If you look up the make & model of your DVD player, you can check at sites like this one (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks.php?select=Cyberhome+CH-DVD+300) to see if you can de-zone yours that way. This usually voids the warranty, but is not illegal (in the Netherlands, anyway.)
Disclaimer: if your DVD player spontaneously combusts, has kittens, or flies off to Neptune, I cannot be held responsible in any way. *g*

And I know about the players ;) Mine is multi region. In the UK most come standard multi-region damn cheap. Got mine for 30 quid. I would buy mine from the states too but my computer is set on region 2 and I don't want to run out of spaces changing it to region 1 and back again over and over, since once I have them I want to both cap and make vids with them. So I'm HOPING they'll eventually continue in the UK. Though chance would be a fine thing. And usually we have MORE than america on dvd!
