I sent in my HXFQF story last night, exactly one hour before deadline. Whoof. I'd say, "Remind me not to do this again," but then you'd all laugh at me. *g*

Many thanks to falzalot and halimede for kibitzing and beta duty; next time I promise to actually listen to your very sensible suggestions instead of panicking about the deadline like a chicken with its head cut off, as we say in Dutch. I may still do a rewrite, because I think we're not allowed to put up the stories on our own sites etc. until December, and by that time I'm sure I will have gained some perspective. In the meantime, I will post when the stories go up on the HXFQF site.

In other news, elke_tanzer is collecting multifandom threesome story recs and ltlj has written a delicious drabble for herc_xena100 that, while not a threesome drabble, certainly brings falzalot's ideas about a steamy Iolaus/Nebula/Hercules (or should that be Nebula/Iolaus/Hercules?) story back to mind. Wrowr. I think I need to go make some Nebula screencaps.

But maybe they were putting on an act. Maybe something happened to erase their memories. (Fortune: "You called?") Maybe it was a parallel timeline. Canon has enough excuses to go round, and there's always A/U. :-)

I actually have thought about I/H/N seriously (and enjoyed it a lot, cue rimshot), and Mary O'Merta (from Less Than Legendary) had had an idea a while back for Iolaus/Hercules/Deianeira at the beginning of "Maze of the Minotaur" which we tried to talk her into doing. But the only part of an I/H/N story I've currently got is the end, where Nebula makes a somewhat smug comment about this being the first time the guys have participated in a threesome, and the guys looking at each other and collapsing into laughter, cause, um, it's not the first time. :)

Oh, that idea of Mary O'Merta's rings bells with me - I've always gotten that vibe off MotM. Tremendous slashiness, yes, but the easy familiarity between Deianeira and Iolaus is also striking. And there's the lovely angst quotient - Iolaus having lost his wife, and Hercules and Deianeira both hurting for him and trying to give him a little joy again and comfort him as best they know how. Mmm.

That ending of yours sounds great, too - I can just see Nebula's smug look and her surprise. :-)

Yeah, unfortunately most of the stories on that page are of the type that hhandbasket called "Who's Your Daddy?" stories, with a side order of weepy!Iolaus.

I think there should be no limits on the amount of I/N/H threesomes, even imaginary ones. Although I'm certainly hoping Martha will write one. :-)

... because I certainly felt as if I was breathing for the first time in nearly three weeks.

Now I'm thoroughly giddy: The moment the url arrived, I was on the page, hopping from one story to the other, only taking little nips and trying to decide which one I should read first.

So many new stories ( and from the little peeks I had very good and catching ones ) -- I think I'm on vacation already. It even outweighs the guilt about not being able to get my ass in gear and hop over to herc_xena100.

And I second your praise of beta-readers in general ( I know for sure without mine, the story would have gone bad-fic from the beginning ).
