I Love My Show.
Random moments of Hercules love this week. First, rewatching some of Season Four, I came across two hilariously subtexty moments I'd completely forgotten about:
- From Stranger in a Strange Land, in the scene where Ares and Hercules are rumbling while Iolaus and Random Rescued Damsel look on:
- From Web of Desire, the first appearance of Nebula theSex Goddess (Pirate) Queen: Hercules and Iolaus are about to split up to trap Arachne, so they tell each other good luck & be safe, clasping forearms and looking deeply into each other's eyes. As you do. Only this time Nebula is there, and she starts to laugh as Hercules walks away.
- and then I had a great time explaining to a stunned
halimede that yes, this really is Iolaus seducing talking to Hercules. Or, as Halimede put it, "I was convinced he was chatting up some babe-of-the-week there."
Right. Back to my HXFQF challenge story now. Rrrgh. Why does plot show up when you least want it to?

RRD, who can only see Hercules being thrown about by some invisible force: "What is happening?!"
Iolaus: "Well, Hercules is fighting Ares-"
RRD: "Over me?"
Iolaus: "No, over me."
- From Web of Desire, the first appearance of Nebula the
Iolaus, irritated: "What?"
Nebula: “Nothing. Quite a... firm handshake between you two.”
Iolaus: "Yeah, so?"
Nebula: “So, I think it’s great.”
Iolaus: “Well, I’m glad you approve.”
Nebula: “Yeah? So, how long've you two been together?”
Iolaus: “We’ve been partners since we were kids.”
Nebula: “Oh, "partners".”

snrch!

*Convinced*, I tell you! And in the actual vid footage, the way he's swirling the drink in his cup, so near his mouth, and that look from under his eyelashes and, and, and! Just... Guh. Typical seduction stuff. Very sexy too. ;)

Yay, plot! :)

Anyway, go here: http://www.ltljverse.com/pictures.htm#harem (heh, that's a great URL!) and check out the three 'Iolaus and Nebula' pics. They are all scrumptious.
And I'm so glad you enjoyed the infamous cup scene. I will show you the original sometime, oh yes. :-)

Damn, now i wanna watch season 4 again.. huh. I watched season 5 not that long ago. Guess I'm working backwards.
Of course, on of my other favourite subtext scenes is in Darkness Visible when Iolaus tries to bite Hercules. In fact, I think that whole episode had great subtext in it.
And I tend to wonder about how Hercules can continue pretty well without his wife, kids, mother etc, but when he loses Iolaus he gives up on everyone and everything and loses his Way. awwwwww...

Keeps him grounded.
And plot, Mary? It's all because you're a plot fiend. I got my pictures in to HXFQF. Yay!
Of course, they make you downsize the pictures so much that you lose some detail. When I get to make them public access, they'll be bigger files.
Barbara, who should be working on her Mummy Dearest rewrite...or something constructive...

Nonono! What I am is a procrastination fiend. I am so good at procrastinating (why else am I typing LJ comments instead of story right now?) that all kinds of strange things start happening when I drop the habit for a second. Like plot. I'm a force of nature, really.

Oh, cool! I'll be very interested to see what you came up with. It's fun to have art as well as stories to look forward to.

They are actual sketches...well, one is computer colored. The other is plain old hand and pencils. :)

Oh good, more subtext! I haven't seen any of season six yet, so that'll be something to look forward to. (I don't have high hopes of the season in general, though.)
Hercules losing his way (not to mention some of his marbles) after Iolaus' death was my favorite part of season five. After losing two wives, the kids, his mother and so on, Iolaus was the 'family' he had left, as he said in season four, and losing him sends him over the edge. Pity they didn't follow it up with some good episodes...

You slashy Hercules posts are wonderful. :) Mind if I friend you?

Wow! Lucky you. *g* That barn scene is one of the slashiest things I've seen anywhere. Foreplay, absolutely. (And if you perchance haven't seen Warrior Princess yet, there is also the half-naked forging of phallic symbols scene to look forward to.)

Please, be my guest! Now I need to go look at your icon some more...

OMG! HOW DID I MISS THAT? I saw the whole WP trilogy a couple of weeks ago (also for the first time, I only got hooked on Hercules during the third season...). Was it at the beginning of the ep? I can't believe I missed that...

Very slashy.

And Barbara is right, it's the scene at the very beginning of the ep. Michael Hurst called it 'homoerotic' in the DVD commentaries, and he was not wrong.
Off to go look at your icons!
