Back again
This is a Gratuitous Hand Post - I went over to
halimede's today and she hennaed my hands for me with consummate artistry. I'd never had this done before, although I'd admired the patterns on other people, and it was fascinating to watch.

The color came up very nicely, even though we had to take the henna paste off before I left for home - I was looking forward to frightening little kiddies with my Scary Zombie hands, all wrapped up in cottonwool and paper towels, but the wrappers came off even before I'd tried to lace my shoes.
And we watched And Fancy Free.. while the paste dried, both with and without the Hurst/Sorbo double act commentary. I think it is my mission to introduce as many unsuspecting fans to the Widow Twankey as I possibly can.
Hercules' extremely deadpan line, "I don't...twirl" is getting funnier every time I hear it. And
halimede had an interesting observation: Kevin Sorbo doesn't seem to move nearly as comfortably in his glittery dance outfit as Michael Hurst does in his drag costume. Could this have something to do with the lack of costume changes for Herc over the seasons? (Then again, Sorbo does go on about how much he hated the leather pants, too. *g*)

I think somebody should do a Widow Twanky vid. I've got the song picked out and everything. I just can't say it in public. :->

I think someone should do a Widow Twankey vid too, y'see. Preferredly, someone who can actually do a good job, i.e. not me, but I'm going to have to do one eventually. It's just too much campy fun to resist.

Could you possibly send it to me via SendThisFile.com? You need to sign up, but it is free. And I want to hear it. :-)
And you are so not a parasite. You are a fannish enabler, which is a lovely thing to be - heck, I should know. *eg*

And I sure feel like a parasite. :-> Maybe one of these days I'll be able to do something creative again. Beta-ing and webbing doesn't count.

Ooh, pretty hands.
Sorbo was a model though, before he became an actor, and had his picture taken in many different outfits. The International Male catalog that he was in is really sought after. He also did a national commercial in underwear. (On the E special about him, his father talks about the crap he used to get when he would be in a bar having a beer and Kevin's underwear commercial would come on.) So that may have been Sorbo making Hercules look uncomfortable in the sparkly outfit.

Okay, now ~that~ would be funny. :-> :->

I don't have any but some of the Sorbo sites on LtLJ's link list might have some posted. I know there was one where he was in a black leather vest over bare chest, very nice, and one where he was wearing a suit with no shirt.

I think the stripey shirt-bulge-phallic cactuses shot is my favorite. :-)
And you are right, if he could do that...
The only shot where he looks uncomfortable here is the one with the parrot, and I don't blame him - that parrot looks as though it's leaving claw marks on his shoulder.
Love the dad anecdote, BTW. *g*

Woo, I hadn't seen some of those before! The one with the net shirt is...damn. And yeah, the parrot looks a little aggresive.

Ooh! The picture loaded. Nifty. :)

So very!
If we ever do it again I'll make sure I can find my pastel pencils. Just a couple of marks of where everything should go before you start really shorten the time spent working. And I know all this stuff, but it's usually so long between henna bursts that I forget again.

I dunno how long it took, really - an hour total, plus drying time? The right hand was the most elaborate and took the longest - the left was done freehand when we found that there was paste left over, and I think

pretty...
I love henna – I had a poppy done across my upper back for a new years eve party once, and my parents nearly had fits when they saw it a few days later… thought it was real!
Are you talking about these (http://www.selvan.com/apollena/tc/tim87.html) pictures? I dunno… anyone who feels ok with a picture being taken of them in that stripy shirt pose, or who is willing to don the string singlet at all must feel comfortable in most things… and be able to work up a twirl if needed!
Re: pretty...
flails
Look at him in the string vest! That is so wrong. And the stripey shirt pose combined with a Significant Bulge. Holy Moses.
flails some more
Thanks for that link, this just made my day. And you and
And the poppy across your back sounds great. That must have taken hours to do!
Re: pretty...
Have to admit that I too did a bit of pointing and squeaking as I tried to get my breath back. I hadn't noticed the bulges before... but now you mention it, there are many Significant Bulges, they're... wow! in every shot that includes below-the-beltage. Jeepers.
The poppy took about 1/2 hour... it wasn't massive and it was a really simple art nouveau design in black henna (not as natural, but looks more like actual ink). It lasted about 2 weeks. I think I'll get some more stuff done next summer - I like the idea of tattoos, but I'm just way too fickle to commit to the one design for life :)

I henna'd my kid's belly once. She thought it was cool. I think she was like six or so. Also had one done on the underside of my wrist once.
