Site update: Hercules: the Legendary Journeys drabbles and screencaps

Updated Mary Crawford's Vices with the two latest H:tLJ drabbles - I didn't post them here this time: Oracle and That Only A Mother - and with screencaps for the third season episodes Mercenary and Love Takes A Holiday.

(To the person who requested A Fire Down Below caps: those are up next, promise.)

Love Takes A Holiday: Really fun episode wherein Aphrodite decides to give up on the Goddess of Love gig, and Iolaus rescues a girl who turns out to be his grandmother. I love the running gag where Aphrodite tests her new careers - and outfits - on Iolaus, which culminates in her wearing an extremely abbreviated version of Kevin Sorbo's costume:

and of course the classic bit of innuendo at the end, where Aphrodite tells Iolaus to go and make someone happy, and adds "Or don't you and Hercules do that, either?"
Oh, and speaking of innuendo - Iolaus' facial expressions and tone of voice as he teaches Aphrodite to shoot arrows - "Now squeeeze...and release" make it very hard to believe that he's talking about arrows. Then he licks his lips afterwards...

And this is just because of the yowza! factor:

Mercenary: Classic hurt-comfort story, which opens with Hercules surviving a drowning and waking up on the beach with his left arm spitted on a piece of wood - and it gets worse from there. Michael Hurst isn't in this episode, except that he is; he directed it, and it shows. Lovely shots everywhere, and Kevin Sorbo looks so good in this, if you like him dusty, sweaty, bloody, and in serious brooding hero mode. Which I do. *g*

Great commentary by Michael Hurst on this episode on the 3rd season DVD set, much more serious than the hilarious commentaries he did for the earlier sets, but just as good - here he goes into detail about his decisions as a director: choices of camera angles, how to get away with the maximum amount of grit, blood and violence, plus random comments like "I think this is a great shot - Kevin looks really chunky and um, made out of something solid there."

Very nice caps. I'd forgotten how much time Iolaus spends sprawled on the ground in various positions in Love Takes a Holiday. There's a couple of nice views in there.

Hee! Yeah, this is a good Iolaus-watching episode, no doubt about it.
