Sorbo phone conversation: H:tLJ DVD news
So, the Hercules Online Store has been having a contest, and the prize was a phone call from Kevin Sorbo. I'm not linking to the store because I don't want to encourage them - their contests tend to consist of 'spam as many mailing lists with Hercules ads as possible', their prices are outrageous and their information unreliable.
But. The guy who won - I think his name is Rio - was kind enough to put his conversation with Kevin Sorbo up as a trio of .mp3 files here, here and here. [Please hit the right mouse button and choose 'Save Link Target As' to save the files to your own computer and conserve Rio's bandwidth.] The quality is just about bearable.
Sorbo talks about his early days as an actor, taking those endless casting calls for Hercules, mourning Kevin Smith with Michael, his favourite episodes (Footloose And Fancy Free is one, heh) and other stuff, but what I want to draw your attention to is the following bit from the second .mp3 file:
[transcript and all errors mine]
Sorbo: "Last week I was back in Los Angeles, I was doing some more commentary along with Michael Hurst. Now I haven't seen Michael once in the last four and a half years (...)"
Fan: "So you were doing video commentaries?"
Sorbo: "Yeah, we were doing video commentaries for the last three seasons of the show. So those won't be out for the next, you know, I think probably the next six months to a year or something. But anyway, it was such a hoot to sit down there with Michael and relive those moments with him. (...) It's been a long time since I've looked at these things and to look at them again through my eyes, through Michael's eyes - it was just such a blast. It brought back the great times we had."
Woot! This just made me really happy. My hopes are high that
a) we'll get all the seasons of H:tLJ on DVD (despite the Anchor Bay takeover) and
b) we may actually get commentaries with Michael and Kevin together.

barbaraa below for more news - apparently seasons 3, 4, 5 and 6 are all coming out in 2004!

Anchor Bay has started to update their "In the Future" page with some upcoming TV titles.
On Friday they posted that Hercules: The Legendary Journeys Season 4 will be released in July, with seasons 5 and 6 out before the end of the year!
Extras will include commentary tracks with star Kevin Sorbo as well as new cast & crew interviews, and other special features to be announced later.

Re: Anyone else see this?
I wish it actually said 'commentary tracks with Kevin Sorbo and Michael Hurst' (yes, I am a pessimist *g*), but hey, at least we know the seasons are all coming out. And all in 2004 - whoo! I'd better start saving...
