Hercules: the Legendary Journeys fannish roundup

[livejournal.com profile] ltlj has posted Part II of her new story "The Ninth Plague". Scary and thrilling stuff, and Autolycus has a star turn. I'm pining for the next installment already. And her excellent [livejournal.com profile] crack_van Hercules and Iolaus story recommendations are collected here.

Angela Field has two new stories on Heroes' Path. Natural History Lessons is one of her Academy tales, Les Magnifiques is set in the universe of 'Les Contemptibles', the H:tLJ ep featuring many bad French accents and great clothes. I haven't read either one of them yet because I'm going away for a few days and am saving them to take with me, which should tell you something right there about my faith in her storytelling. *g*

The H:tLJ third season DVD box set is almost upon us: March 23d is the official release date, and Best Buy has it for $44.99. Whether BB has unique bonus material this time around is still uncertain, but I will report once my DVDs are in.

The Yahoogroups fanficlist for Iolaus fans GoldApple has spawned a new list for critiquing stories set in the Hercverse: the Iolausian Writer's Guild. As the name indicates, the group focuses on Hercules and Iolaus stories. Guidelines and rules are still being worked out, but the consensus so far is that the stories must be gen, rated G or PG-13, no slash or adult content, although writers are welcome to post a brief description of such stories and ask for critiques off-list.

Mike has added a new Iolaus wallpaper and no less than 127 screencaps of the H:tLJ episode 'Judgement Day' to Mike's Images. Lovely pics with something for everyone: Strife and/or Ares fans, Hercules fans, Xena fans, Gabrielle fans, and of course Iolaus fans (aw!).

Oh, and the icon image is by Mic, made for the Sacred Band site and used with permission. Do check out some of the other images there - small but delicious. They cheered me right up after I was having a despondent "Gen is gen and slash is slash and never the twain shall meet" moment.

Ooh, pretty!

Thanks for the pointer to the screencaps. It's a gloomy, gray afternoon, and all I want to do is take a nap. So it was good to have a lovely close-up of Ares to perk me up.

Hey, you're welcome! I saved quite a few of those Ares shots, m'self. Yum.
