H:tLJ: "Highway to Hades" thoughts and caps
Now that my yuletide story is finished I'm free to indulge myself, at least today (ROTK tomorow! Again! Whee!), so I watched Highway to Hades and made screencaps.
What a great episode. I think I made about ten caps of the scene where Hercules brings Iolaus a brace of rabbits to cheer him up, because it's so damn cute.
Here's Iolaus morosely poking up the campfire, having sent Herc off rather peremptorily to get dinner. He's sharing the campsite with a ghost he can't see or talk to, although Hercules can - that's why he in such a bad mood. Then up comes Hercules with his rabbits:
Iolaus looks surprised, critically inspects the rabbits, then goes 'But where are yours?'
While Iolaus laughs at his own joke, Herc still looks concerned, then starts to laugh too:
You can just see them have this whole unspoken conversation (or at least I can):
"You OK? I know this is weird, and I'm sorry you can't see him."
"Yeah, it is. But don't worry, I'll deal. I'm just glad you're not cracking up. And hey, dinner!"
And then there's the 'fooling the guards' skit, first with Iolaus trying to convince the guard that they're 'in the mineral rights business':
and cracking up hopelessly when Hercules adds that he's really more in the human rights business (which I couldn't get a clear cap of, alas).
The second skit is the one with Iolaus as a leper (I'm convinced that's one of Cheiron's hands he keeps waving around) and complaining about having to wear a 'stupid costume' even though it's nothing more than a big woolly robe (which actually looks rather good on him) and a fake hand:
But I think my favorite bit in the whole episode comes right at the end, where Hercules tries to convince Hades that he needs to let Timuron have a proper wedding night with Daphne. Herc's completely tongue-tied and embarrassed, and because he can't even come up with a decent euphemism for 'have sex' he invents this gesture:
