[livejournal.com profile] roo2 asked for Iphicles screencaps, from the H:tLJ episode "What's In A Name" where Hercules' half-brother first makes his appearance. Here are a few, with more on the way when I update my site. [livejournal.com profile] roo2, I hope they'll prove inspiring for the much-anticipated Egyptian story. :-)

Ah, Kevin Smith, how we miss you. I admit I like him better as Ares, but Iphicles has his moments. It must be so aggravating to have a half-brother who's got a divine gift of always being right.
Iolaus is great in this episode, too. "Next time I ask to be fed - feed me!" he growls at a guard before decking him. I was trying to work out how long he's actually held prisoner. It can't be that long, can it? Less than a day? And already Iolaus is considering rat au naturel. I never realized how canon Iolaus' insatiable appetite really is.

Very nice caps. I wish they'd done more with Iphicles -- there was a lot of potential for storylines there.

Yeah, it looks like he basically missed one meal. He really must have the metabolism of a hummingbird. And I love that attempt he makes to meditate at one point. I noticed when I first saw that episode that he holds his hands in the same way that Xena does when she meditates in a Xena ep, I forget which one.

Yes, I do wonder what happened with Iphicles. Maybe they felt Kevin Smith shouldn't play dual roles too often, that it would get confusing or something? I dunno, it never stopped Michael. Pity, because Iphicles could've been a great foil for Hercules. They have such tension going on - I couldn't believe that Hercules makes a half-hearted attempt to reason with Iphicles, then grabs him and throws him on the ground just to get him to listen.

Yeah, it looks like he basically missed one meal.

And they just came from Alcmene's, so he can't have been underfed before that. :-)

I tried to get caps of Iolaus' botched attempt at meditating, but they came out blurred, alas.

These are lovely. I'm glad Roo requested them and you found time to do them. I miss KS so much.

It really is too bad that they never used Iphicles as much as they could have. At the very least, he should have been there when Alcmene died.

Thanks! By now I've put up more screencaps from What's In A Name on my site (http://www.squidge.org/~marycrawford/images/caps/WhatsInAName/page1.htm), including more Iphicles, although I think these are the best of the bunch.

I agree, he should have been there in the episode where Alkmene dies, and there's lots of other things they could have done with his character.
