rice for everyone
I have a rice cooker for the first time ever, and now I want to make All The Rice Dishes. It's tiny, because in a two person household we eat at most a cup of (uncooked) rice a day, and it has fuzzy logic magic. It's a Cuckoo model, Korean, and it's adorably shaped like an egg, which makes me wonder if it's going to hatch into something that will throw all our other appliances out of the nest.
Please hit me up with your rice cooker tips, tricks, recipes? So far I've only made basmati in it, but I've been watching this Chinese (subtitled) cooking channel and she does some amazing things. If you're in Europe, tips for good asian rice brands would also be welcome - my Aldi basmati is okay but unexciting, and I want to branch out to other flavors. We have a big Asian supermarket in town, so I'll probably have choice paralysis.
I've signed up for
guardian_wishlist, a nice lowkey fic/art/anything challenge that works like
fandomtrees: you sign up with a wishlist, the mods post it, and anyone can comment on that post with something that fits your wishes.
fandomtrees was a blast, and I hope this will be as well. Signups are open until the end of the month, but there's no need to sign up yourself if you only want to make treats for other people. (I'm a big fan of that option: I'm hesitant to sign up for many types of challenges, but the option to make treats is always exciting.)

lolol, oh dear imagine appliances that evolve in real time in your kitchen.
If it's something you can get where you are, there are takikomigohan packets (I don't know what they're called in English, not to speak of Dutch) which you mix with the uncooked rice, tell the rice cooker to do its thing, and when it's done you have flavored rice with vegetables, chicken, etc. mixed into it depending on the variety. Nice for days when you just want a very low-effort tasty meal.

Alas, I'm not well-versed in rice cookers, though I hope to own one one day. If you hit on any recipes that are really good, I'd be interested to hear about them, if you're willing to share.

I will totally share any great recipes! I can make my boring supermarket rice in the thing, and it works, but I feel like I'm not using it to its full potential. XD

Honestly, I feel that way about cooking in general. I feed myself just fine, but I do think I could be doing more interesting stuff - I'm just lacking the motivation to try most days.

Yay, that's wonderful!
I just hope I can finish it in good time because things tend to... balloon during writing.
Oh, same hat, friend, same hat. Currently still working on the $)%* weilan AU that started as an innocent promptfic, and that was going to be 1000 words, tops. Good luck, and I'm cheered that you found my wishlist motivational!
For cooking, that Youtube channel I linked is...aspirational rather than motivational, mostly, for me, but it's beautifully shot and calming to watch. Also, she never seems to use an actual pan on a stove, just various electric devices, which is fascinating to me.
