H/C bingo
I'm really hoping this will get me back into finishing fanfic, rather than poking at stories and giving up.
As usual with this kind of challenge, some of the options are weird -- orphans? Wings?
It's not that I can't envision any kind of story with those prompts, but it does boggle me what on earth they have to do with hurt/comfort.
I looove "time travel gone wrong" though, and "telepathic trauma" and "unrequited pining". And "confession in desperate situation."
And then there's "unexpected consequences of planned soulbonding" which seems startlingly specific -- it has to be planned soulbonding? That rules out the plot of approximately 98% of all the Kirk/Spock stories I've ever read, I'm just saying.
headaches / migraines | loss of limb / limb function | loss of job / income | surprise sexswap | telepathic trauma |
unrequited pining | skeletons in the closet | blood loss | mistaken identity | motion sickness |
major illness | blackmail | WILD CARD | confession in desperate situation | sensory deprivation |
depression | extortion | drowning | orphans | stalkers |
time travel gone wrong | lacerations / knife wounds | wings | unexpected consequences of planned soulbonding | parting ways |

...and also:

Yeah, seriously. A couple-few of the prompts really jump out at me in that way--it's like they ran out of actual hurt/comfort ideas, and borrowed from a crackfic bingo card instead. Wings? Nothing particularly hurt or comfort related about them. Same with tentacles. Whereas both of those are their own time-honored trope in a different genre/approach.
it has to be planned soulbonding?
I've wondered about that! I especially wonder if the mods would be amenable to a slight change. Because they have "forced soulbonding" and "unexpected consequences of planned soulbonding", but they don't have "accidental soulbonding"! (They do have "accidental mating for life," but I don't see those as entirely identical.) And that seems like a ginormous gap, leaving out a plot that has been fertile soil (har har) for many a classic Trek story. If they added "accidental soulbonding," then you could have forced, accidental, and planned-but-has-unexpected-consequences, all three of which take different directions.
Your card has lots of delightful possibilities! The second row, for instance (although 'motion sickness' does seem to pall a bit besides the grandness of the rest of them *g*). Or, oh, the third row, very nice. The first and second columns down, as well! And I haven't even yet internalized all the other patterns one can follow to make a bingo.
Do you want to have some accountability trading? Like, starting up the classic Arduinna's Law again?

Yes I do want accountability trading! Let us attempt Arduinna's Law once more, even though it's a law more honored in the breach than the observance.
A lot of the more out-there prompts do seem to be either crackfic or kinks that aren't particularly related. "Tentacles"...well, that would be easy in a Hercules story, but still.
Also, huh! I didn't realize that they didn't have "accidental soulbonding" as a trope at all. That is THE CLASSIC.
I haven't started investigating patterns yet -- I think I could theoretically come up with something for all of these, except "surprise sex swap" which just squicks me. So there are a lot of options, she said intrepidly. :-)

I am disappointed in you both that you lack so much imagination. Personally, if my partner suddenly sprouted wings and/or tentacles, I know I would need a serious amount of comfort. And possibly sedation.
I am so excited about the possibility of new fic from all you guys! *dance*

These tropes are definitely not something I look for in h/c stories, though. But a use can be contrived. :-)
I am excited too, and thanks! I hope we do get at least a handful of stories out of it.

I can't say they're tropes I would look for in h/c--or usually anywhere else outside of Lovecraft, for that matter--but I just wanted to point out the possibilities. :-)

Yeah, um, I was wondering that, myself. *g*
You got some terrific ones, too! \o/
