marycrawford: 13 hour clock icon (fingerpointing)

Kinkiness is us

[livejournal.com profile] devinharris watched my Holding Out For A Hero vid and asked,

Which episode did the clip of Herc on his knees, with his hands tied behind
him, come from? I want an icon of that pose, because guh is it hot, but I'm
currently connecting to the 'net at 19.2 kbps and there's no way I can
browse all your screen caps to see if you have that shot capped already.
It's from Hercules and the Amazon Women, that fabulously deranged episode where the Amazons strip Hercules half naked, bind and gag him and then drag him through town on a cart to deliver him to their Queen. Clearly they know a good thing when they see one. (There are several clips from that episode in the vid, because how could there not be? And I didn't even include the one where Hercules is lying on the floor naked.)

Oddly, even though I have tons of screencaps for the episode, I failed to cap the falling-to-his-knees moment. So I had another try, and here are three caps of Bound!Gagged!Defiant!Hercules, especially for [livejournal.com profile] devinharris, who patiently waited for months until I remembered. *g*

I have such love for this episode. Such love. From the very first time I saw the look on Hercules's face when he gazes at Iolaus on his back in front of him. *sigh*

I don't know what is more endearing: the absolutely nonsensical plot, the bizarre behavior of Roma Downey's eyebrow, the blatantly voyeuristic naked, bound Hercules sequence, the blatantly voyeuristic Amazon dancing sequence, the fact that they reused the footage of the first fight three times over the course of the episode... the list goes on. Not to mention that at first blush the ep seems to have a "message" about the necessity of equality between the sexes, but when you examine it further it makes no sense. Wait... men like being raped by women? If men pretend to listen, women go all mushy over them? Exotically beautiful women really only want to be housewives for homely beer-bellied men? Men are pathetic when they live on their own? Heck, even Hercules at the beginning disparages Anya when Iolaus tells him she can't cook or keep house. It's just - gah. Like they tried for something profound and failed utterly.

the bizarre behavior of Roma Downey's eyebrow

*dies*

Oh man. Yes. I do love the episode for all the lovely and bizarre bits you mention. Plus, holy moly does Iolaus look hot in the opening sequence, in that closeup and chasing after Hercules through the marketplace. Wrowr.

Oh, and first they bind and gag Hercules and then command him to wash the Queen's feet. Um. HOW?

I do feel like I have to reassure people who see this for the first time that Hercules isn't this much of a jerk in the rest of the series, and that they mostly stayed away from Important (if confused) Moral Messages afterwards. I feel they were really setting him up to be a jerk so he could Learn Something and Change.

[identity profile] ivy03.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally forgot about the flashback sequences where Hercules expresses his scorn for girls and their cooties. This is one of those brilliant pieces of cinema that has achieved apotheosis through incompetence.

And the extremely hot Iolaus doesn't hurt. Even he has to share scenes with Sorbo's incredibly fake Farah Fawcett-esqu hair extensions.

[identity profile] marycrawford.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Heeee. Yeah. Those extensions...I'm glad he grew his own hair out. I wonder, what can we think of to explain those things canonically? Some monster gnawed on him?

Also, double yes on the hotness of Hercules looking down at Iolaus on his back. And this, of course. (http://www.squidge.org/~marycrawford/images/caps/AmazonWomen/aw029.jpg) No wonder I fell for this series, is it?

[identity profile] ivy03.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, and the first instance of Herc's traditional greeting to Iolaus. "Hey, Iolaus. It's been awhile. How've you been?" *puts hand in crotch*

[identity profile] marycrawford.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
If I had a .sig anymore I would totally .sig that. *snickers*

[identity profile] dragovianknight.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Nothing beats Bound!Gagged!Defiant!Hercules. :D

[identity profile] marycrawford.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. You work fast. Hee hee hee. And you're welcome!

[identity profile] dragovianknight.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it's such a great shot by itself, all I had to do was crop it and resize it.

I wonder how often Iolaus ties him up like that...

[identity profile] marycrawford.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Heeeee. When you factor in that he's been in the East, and may have picked up a trick or two from Nebula...the mind, it sizzles.

[identity profile] dragovianknight.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Now I want to read about Iolaus picking up a trick or two from Nebula. Dammit.

[identity profile] fred-god-of.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
is there any place where I can get safe downloads of Hercules, because I've searched around quite a bit and haven't found any.

[identity profile] marycrawford.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, that's tricky. I've seen HtLJ torrents about, have you looked for those? (Also, DeepDiscountDVD has them very cheaply, I know it's not what you ask, but you might still like to know. :-)

[identity profile] fred-god-of.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, I'll look for torrents, I'm still trying to figure that program out.

[identity profile] mickeymvt.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Nrghhh. That first one.. I wanna just lick his back, over and over and over.

Though I might have to fight Iolaus to do it *g*

[identity profile] marycrawford.livejournal.com 2006-07-21 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, as this episode demonstrates, all you have to do to defeat Iolaus in combat is be female, so that should work out fine. (Ditto if you have a stinger tail or are a Sumerian demon, but that seems more unlikely.)

[identity profile] mickeymvt.livejournal.com 2006-07-21 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Got the female part down real well *L*. But not too keen on the other parts. Then again,I may offer to share- Iolaus would say yes in a heartbeat.

I always thought it strange that he's shocked, just shocked that it's woman he's fighting in this, whereas any time in the series, he could care less. It could be explained by the same powers that made Herc a chauvanistic pig in this movie, but I swear TPTB don't give a hoot about their own continuity.

Holding out for a Hero -- OMG, what a stitch is that vid! I know the show only well enough to recognize Hercules and Iolaus, so all the clips are a delightful surprise. The dancing clips! And the nightclub clips! I cannot even begin to guess how a show set in the past(?) can justify such a glamourous gown.... But the boy did look stunning. -g- Both did, through the entire vid. I have much love for this vid, much love. -g-

[identity profile] marycrawford.livejournal.com 2006-07-21 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, yay! Thank you kindly! And I love your comment about the justification of Twanky's glam dress. And the question mark after 'past' made me snicker. Because, well, yes, theoretically the show is set in Mythological Greece, but it's the kind of show where people eat kiwis on screen and breakdance and turn into pigs and fly ancient aeroplanes, so. A drag queen is just a minor element, really. *g*

Howdy. Came here via [livejournal.com profile] dragovianknight's lj, and almost slipped in the ensuing puddle of drool. Do you mind if I friend you?

[identity profile] marycrawford.livejournal.com 2006-07-21 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi! Friend away, and nice to meetcha. :-)
