Shiny, shiny vid meme

If you haven't wandered over to the Great Vidding Truth Meme over at [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup's yet, it's definitely worth seeing and participating.

This is one long thread where you can leave anonymous feedback on the vids of any vidder who signed up. Criticism, squeeing, "I liked your vid but I don't understand X" ing, it's all good. If you want to tell me something about my vids, but you'd rather do it anonymously, go for it! And please don't be afraid to criticize. I really want to know.

I love seeing this meme grow and grow, and I've found several vids that I had lost track of, by vidders that aren't so well known. Here's a quick rec for [livejournal.com profile] gayalondiel's SG-1 vid to "Men In Black", which is a lot of fun and has some really excellent clip choices.

Oh, bless you! I'm still new to this and very very scarable so it was a delight to find this! Thanks for pointing me here :D

Aw. Don't be scared! *g* You have a great eye for clip choices and this was just a perfect song and fandom match, well executed. I'm not even an SG-1 watcher, and I really like this vid.

Now that's an uber-compliment!

I think I've probably told you more about your vids than you wanted to hear. *g* It's an interesting meme, and I'm considering signing up for the writer version, except it has umpty-billion pages already...

*grins at you fondly*

I don't think it's physically possible to tell me more about my vids than I want to hear. (Because I am a greedy hog.) But you certainly did tell me things that have been very welcome and very helpful indeed, so go you. And sign up for the writer version already! You know you want to!

Heya, I don't know if you still remember my review for your Iolaus vid, 'Live Til I Die", but I just saw your Hercules vid to "Holding Out For A Hero" and THAT is what I was talking about. You've found your style and it's fully realized in "Holding Out For A Hero", and damned if I can articulate exactly what it is or why it works so well, but your growth from "Live Til I Die" to "Holding Out For A Hero" was what I was waiting for.

It's not like anyone else's style, it's *yours*, this has your touch all over it, and solidly and consistently, and I am *so* glad you've made this vid. This is a *wonderful* vid and I was just grinning at it and laughing out loud.

I can't wait to see what else you will produce, I don't *know* what else you will produce because I don't vid like you do and don't conceptualize vids like you've shown me, and you've come into your own with this recent vid and the vid thrills me as do the possibility of your vidding more in the future. =)

::HUGS::

Eee! Thank you very very much - I hardly expected feedback from the Escapade vidshow so soon, and YAY! Am grinning like a loon here.

And yeah, I do remember how you reviewed LTID and I your Jack Sparrow vid, and talking about how different our vidding approaches are. I don't quite know what my style is yet, but I do know that I was pretty happy with the Hero vid. So I just hope I can do it again. *g*

*gloms you* Thank you again, for the encouragement and the kind words!

=) I was a co-mod for the vid review panel and got to see the show ahead of time.

Your vid got a big laugh out of a very many people in the room and was very appreciated. I got the general sense that people were surprised that Holding Out For A Hero could be done *again* and yet reinvented so *well*.

My sense of your style at this moment (I'm still wondering about this because the differences between our styles facinate me) is that it's one based on squeeful poetry. It reminds me of a more exuberant style of [livejournal.com profile] heres_luck's work, which is heavily like poetry, and yet your style is more...free verse, than her's. Or that's the general impression that I get.

I love your sense of movement and mood, which I see in your current vid as having carried over from LTID. In a way, I don't think you can lose that, and I don't think you would lose your awesome sense of whimsy and joy that pervades your vids. I'm not exactly sure as what was different from LTID and HOFAH, but there definately is one. I am sorta glad at this point that I gave the review that I did, because any advice I could have given at that point would have lead to changing style, and I *liked* your style and didn't want to accidentally imprint my style on yours.

Anyhoo, your vid brings me glee and joy and fond memories of the show. =) So I thank *you* for making this vid!

I am sort of glad at not having been in the room, because I'd have been a nervous wreck - but at the same time, it would have been wonderful to hear people's reactions. Lovely to get reports from those who were there. :-)

Thanks so much for your comments! I think you're right that this vid has the same sort of feel as LTID, probably more so than the two other vids I've done, and I love the description of 'squeeful poetry'. Hee. I really find it hard to pinpoint what my style is - I think it's one of those things you can't know if you're doing it, really - but I love to hear your thoughts about my vids. *beams*

::nods:: I only sorta know what mine is via other people talking about it too. They tell me it's flowy and dance-like, which I 'get' on a mental level, but it's never something I really think about when making the vid, 'cause it's more on the level of the instinctual, no? Is it like that for you too?
