I Have A Mouth But It Does Not Work

Earlier tonight I was nearly as good a Gollum as Andy Serkis, and now I can't speak at all. I can only whisper. This should make meetings and answering the phone tomorrow v. interesting. Maybe I could do charades.

To all the people who coughed on me in the tram this week: I'd hate you all if I wasn't so sure that you're suffering right along with me. Feel better.

NaNoWriMo is stalled at +/- 30.000 words. I'm fairly happy with that: it's the largest amount of fiction I've ever written in such a short period, and I like some of the characters and situations that made their way into the story. I would've liked to make it to the finish, of course, but I don't see a chance of that. I do see that I can write about 5000 words a week without trouble, and more than that if I make more room for writing in my life. That's really good to know.

When I'm feeling better I'll start working on my Yuletide story, and continue the Stymphalian birds one if I have time. I'd like to finish that last one sometime before the new year.

Thanks! cough cough :-P

Still mute here. I think I'll clear a whiteboard and start answering questions in writing.
The interesting thing is that my co-workers are now starting to use sign language back to me. (Well, not real sign language, but the point to mouth and raise hand = "do you want something to drink" stuff.)

Mary, source of confusion

*Fascinating*! Like, anthropology & linguistics fascinating. :)

Heh. Some of them have also started to whisper, or said that they find it hard to 'break the silence' and talk to me in their normal voices. It's pretty funny. All the same, I want my voice back! :-)
