if I could outline PROPERLY, then I would have a plan. And if I had a plan, then I would be able to stick to it. Part of me thinks this is very reasonably, and the other part of me says "If I could come up with a plan, I wouldn't need the damn outline in the first place!" (Seriously, I continue to struggle with the balance between "if I don't outline, I won't know where the story is going" and "if I don't just go ahead and write, I won't know where the story wants to go." I think there's no way out but through.)
