dorinda: In "Brideshead Revisited" (1981), Sebastian and Charles, arms around each other, look out to sea. (Brideshead_sea)

Thanks so much for sharing this--I admit, I hadn't heard of her, and obviously I have a lot of catching up to do.

The cat POV feels spot-on, especially the slipping under the carpet and checking, and scattering the papers. *g*

This part suddenly made me cry:

Something here isn't starting
at its usual time.
Something here isn't happening
as it should.
Somebody has been here and has been,
and then has suddenly disappeared
and now is stubbornly absent.

For me, that gets right at the core of the wrongness I feel when someone has died. I guess I've been thinking of Sandy a lot lately. I read something she'd have opinions on, or post something she'd be interested in, or think about who I'll see when I travel someplace. And. Nothing. Something here isn't happening as it should.

I tell you, well-done poetry unexpectedly splits me at the seams more than anything else.
